Mission Statement

“To provide high performance computing facilities and services designed to meet the unique needs of the faculty research community.”

This is a simple way of stating that this support group is targeting a traditionally underserved community within the university. Historically members of the university faculty who needed unusual or additional computing support or resources to meet the needs of their research programs have had to rely on their own grant funding and technical skills or on their local IT support staff or graduate students. The URC will work with the research community to identify unmet needs and areas of common interest, and will strive to meet those needs either through developing shared high performance computing facilities or by offering consulting services via a dedicated staff of experts.

About Us

University Research Computing (URC) is one of several support groups within Information & Technology Services (ITS). Our mission is to support the unique computing needs of UNC Charlotte's diverse community of research faculty by developing shared computing facilities and offering specialized services that would be difficult for individual research groups or departments to provide internally.
